An Alabama football player has been arrested as the team prepares to face Michigan in the College Football Playoff.

Freshman offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett was arrested on Wednesday night and charged with knowingly transmitting a sexually transmitted disease, according to Stephen Dethrage of the Tuscaloosa Thread. A spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department said a report was filed last week that led to a warrant being issued for Pritchett’s arrest.

The charge against Pritchett is a Class C misdemeanor in Alabama. He posted a $500 bond and was released.

Further details about the arrest have not been made public due to legal protections regarding medical information.

Pritchett has appeared in all 13 games for Alabama this season. The 19-year-old entered the transfer portal last week but then changed his mind a day later.

Nick Saban is preparing the Crimson Tide for their College Football Playoff game against Michigan, which will take place on Jan. 1. It is unclear if Pritchett will be with the team.
