Arizona Diamondbacks Closer Paul Sewald Shows Love For His Old Seattle Mariners Fans
USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night by a score of 6-3.

The win moved the Diamondbacks to 66-61 overall and kept them in sole possession of the third and final wild card spot in the National League.

The loss continued a slide for the Rangers, who have now lost six straight games. They sit at 72-54 and are just 0.5 games ahead of the Houston Astros in the American League West. They are also just 1.0 game ahead of the Seattle Mariners, who are trying to chase down the division crown as well.

After the game, Diamondbacks closer Paul Sewald, who used to play for the Mariners, tweeted a little love at his former fans.

"We got you PNW (Pacific Northwest)" he tweeted.

Sewald was traded from the Mariners to the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline after spending 2.5 years in Seattle and helping the M's get to the playoffs in the 2022 season. He was traded for Dom Canzone, Josh Rojas and minor leaguer Ryan Bliss.

Sewald now has 27 combined saves on the season and has become one of the better late-game relievers in major leagues.

Arizona will enjoy an off day on Wednesday before starting a series with the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday night.

The Rangers will start a series with the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.

As for the Astros and Mariners, they'll take on the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox, respectively, on Wednesday.

Houston has a chance to end the day tied with the Rangers while Seattle could end up 0.5 games back.
