Seattle Mariners Get Encouraging Injury Update on Rookie Hurler Bryan Woo

As the Seattle Mariners chase their second consecutive playoff berth, they could be getting back young starting pitcher Bryan Woo from the injured list next week. 

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Woo (forearm) played catch Monday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

ANALYSIS
Woo is less than a week removed from landing on the injured list, and he has already been given the green light to throw, which backs up last week's report that the Mariners aren't overly concerned about his forearm injury. He may throw a bullpen session soon, and barring any setbacks, could rejoin Seattle's rotation as early as next week.

This is good news for Seattle, who is rolling with multiple rookie starting pitchers this season. Having Woo back would allow the team to go with a six-man rotation that could limit the innings on Woo, Bryce Miller and Emerson Hancock. Woo threw just 57 professional innings a season ago and has already thrown 99 this season. 

He's 1-3 with a 4.75 ERA and has struck out 60 batters in 55.0 innings at the major league level.

After dropping three straight games, the Mariners are now 63-55. They'll take on the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium.

First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET as Hancock pitches against veteran righty Jordan Lyles.

Hancock is 0-0 with 1.80 ERA while Lyles is 3-13 with a 6.13 ERA.

The Royals enter the game at 39-81 and in last place in the American League Central.
